China-LAC Civilization Exchange and
Mutual Learning Research Center
Renmin University of China is actively building the China-LAC Civilization Exchange and Mutual Learning Research Center, planned to hold its signing and opening ceremony in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in early July. The intended partner universities for joint construction are the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) and the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro(FURJ).
Why we establish THIS centre?
Against the strategic background of establishing a comprehensive partnership of equality, mutual benefit, and common development between China and Latin American and Caribbean countries, and building a community with a shared future for China and Latin America, the China-LAC Civilization Exchange and Mutual Learning Research Center is proposed to be established to continuously deepen academic cooperation with Latin American countries. It will focus on key research topics such as artificial intelligence, biodiversity, relations among major powers, climate change, ecological governance, and green culture.
What are we all interested in?
The plan is to explore a tripartite joint construction cooperation model, combining the advantageous disciplines and common areas of interest of both sides (such as law, economics, artificial intelligence, ecological and environmental studies, etc.).
RUC will provide high-quality academic resources, committed to deepening innovative cooperation
between China and LAC in frontier fields such as health sciences, climate change, energy transition, artificial intelligence, and data science.

Service scope
Disciplinary Resources
China-LAC Civilization Exchange and Mutual Learning Research Center, jointly established by Renmin University of China and Brazil's Federal University of Minas Gerais, will be built upon the disciplinary resources of both universities. Renmin University has designated its School of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development as the lead school, integrating relevant disciplinary resources across the university.
